Check Imaging Interrogation
FraudGuard’s Counterfeit Detection automates the analysis of the key areas of negotiability on the face of a check – identifying virtually any inconsistency. The system automatically interrogates all static printed fields on the face of a check, including bank name and logo, account and routing numbers, name and address, marks, lines, font type and size, to ensure that their placement, size, and content match those found on the legitimate check used for each account. With FraudGuard Counterfeit Detection, all key elements and fields of presented checks are interrogated. This allows for immediate identification of potential counterfeits and marks them as exceptions to be routed for review.
FraudGuard Positive PayPLUS is a comprehensive check fraud solution that automatically verifies payee line information, in addition to check number and dollar amount, and matches it with the “checks issued” file provided by the financial institution’s corporate customer. With the addition of automated payee line interrogation, all relevant fields are verified to ensure that no check alterations go unnoticed. Check images are captured by the bank and presented to Positive PayPLUS for analysis and verification. As check fields are digitally interrogated, any payee, date, amount or MICR discrepancy will be identified.
Secure Seal
Positive PayPLUS is offered with optional Secure Seal encoding — which prints a unique seal on the face of the check when it is issued. Encrypted inside the seal is information unique to that check — including payee name, dollar amount and account number. During check processing, seal-encoded items are interrogated and automatically validated (or rejected) by the system. If there are any discrepancies between the information identified within the actual check fields and the information encoded in the Secure Seal, they will be marked as exceptions for review.
Signature Verfication
FraudGuard Signature Verification uses fast and highly accurate multi-engine, digital interrogation technology to automatically authenticate the validity of check signatures, quickly detecting any alterations or forgeries to checks. By automating the check signature verification process, customers can cost-effectively lower the dollar threshold of checks to be analyzed, making it possible to review considerably more checks with fewer resources. Because more checks are being reviewed, customers' exposure to potential check fraud can be significantly reduced.
